Fellowship Village Celebrates 7th Anniversary
with Intergenerational Event

Basking Ridge – Fellowship Village, a non-profit Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) located at 8000 Fellowship Road, Basking Ridge, N. J. will celebrate its 7th Anniversary on Sunday, May 4, 2003. In keeping with this special day, the public is invited to a health and wellness event from 1pm to 4pm geared for teenagers, adults and seniors. Fellowship Village is sponsoring an Intergenerational Health and Wellness Fair to be held at The Health Center. Junior and senior high school students, their parents, interested adults (especially the sandwich generation) and seniors are invited to attend an interactive, informative and invigorating afternoon.

Special programming will include guest speaker, Joseph J. Ryan MD, Medical Director at Fellowship Village. He is a founding member of NJ Geriatric Society and current Board of Trustee member. His major research interest has been Alzheimer’s disease – Geriatric care in the long-term care setting. He will speak at 1:45 pm in Liberty Hall – Health Center on the topic: Failing Memories – Why senior moments grow in frequency. What can we do?

At 2:45 pm in Liberty Hall, The Magic Mirror Players, affiliated with Somerset Medical Center’s Dept. of Community Health will perform interactive role playing with the audience on issues dealing with aging parents, grandparents and great-grandparents and the impact on the immediate and extended family members.

From 1pm to 4pm the following activities and services will be available to the public, free of charge. Diabetes Screening by Morristown Memorial Hospital’s Community Health Services; Healthy Food Cooking Demo and Nutrition Tips by Fellowship Village Chef, James McMahon and dietician, Jennifer Harvey; Teen Information for the baby sitting certification course and other local teen programming offered at the Community Health Dept., Somerset Medical Center; Tours of The Village Wellness Center with Nurse Practitioner, Susan Moran, RN; Karaoke and Ice Cream Social in The Park at the Health Center; Parafin Hand Treatments and Chair Massages by the Rehabilitation Dept. at The Village. The following schools have been invited to participate: Ridge High School, William Annin Middle School; Watchung Hills High School; Bedminster Twp. School and Bernards High School. There is something for everyone at this kick-off celebration of the 7th Anniversary of Fellowship Village, a continuing care retirement community (CCRC), which opened 1996. With a total population of over 400 seniors this community continues its commitment to reaching out to the greater community and educating the public on the healthy benefits of CCRC living!
