Houma Relief Efforts Going Strong At Fellowship Village
For Immediate Release
February 1, 2006

When the residents and staff of Fellowship Village, a continuing care retirement community in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, learned of the devastation in the south we wished to be involved in an impacting way. At the same time we learned of efforts being coordinated through the Bernards Township Chamber of Commerce. Together, Fellowship Village and the Bernards Township Chamber of Commerce combined efforts to make an impact on those who lost so much, using the Fellowship Village community as the staging site for repackaging and shipping supplies received from 60+ drop off locations. Residents & Staff of Fellowship Village, along with residents of surrounding communities stepped forward to fill several tractor trailers with water, medical supplies, non-perishable foods, toiletries and baby supplies. There has been an incredible outpouring of love from the residents of Fellowship Village who have not only donated significant funding for this project but have also given of their time to work with other community organizations, such as local boys & girl scout troops in an effort to organize and box supplies for shipping.

The residents of Fellowship Village have wholeheartedly embraced the efforts of this project and have had the opportunity to work with many local youth, educating them about what community is all about, and how pulling together as one can enhance the lives of many.
